Peeps

Meet the peeps that we are or hoping to support through the Plantation Shop by either selling their art or craft. We have Yasus CD's and book in stock with more products to come!

ASULTAlways Support Ur Local Artists! A diverse group of local Auckland bro’s, brought together by their common interest in Design and Art. We attended their first group exhibition and were initially drawn to the original toys produced by Leon Kipa, but at the thought of not paying the rent for a few months to afford the whole collection - there are six and you cannot possibly just buy one! What sort of toy collectors would we be if we didn't buy the set?! We did however lay claim to the hip hop heritage piece crafted by Nissanka Goonetilleke. You will have to visit us at the Shop to view. Keep an ear and eye out for Ernest Auora and Nick Kumar, the other half of ASULT. We have in stock the Signed Limited Edition A3 Poster that Leon ran of his toy range. Cheap as chips ya'll for quality art.

peap artist

PeAp Now this dude I met on facebook. However, my wife bought a Hi-Fructose magazine from Wellington shop Pop-Up and spied his work in an issue noting that he was a half Kiwi/half Cambodian artist. No doubt we are saving to purchase one (or many) of his pieces, much to the future disappointment of our landlord. PeAp is without a doubt one of those outstanding artists that you will be more then happy with one of his pieces in your collection.

yasusYasus Afari I had the privilege of working with this brother on a recent visit here to Aotearoa in May 2008 (big ups! to Mikee from Loop and Nandor). However, on our hip hop honeymoon my wife purchased his book 'Overstanding Rastafari', from 'the Rockhouse' (if you can't tell my wife reads a lot, in fact we had to buy another suitcase to put all the books in, that she purchased on our travels!). To say the least his book is outstanding if you want knowledge on Rastafari - we have also linked you to his myspace. Instore, we have sold out of his book but we still have copies of two of his CD's.
rugsBunny Rugs Many locals (as in Aotearoa locals - seen) may not know the name but many will definately know the voice. Rugs is the lead vocalist of legendary reggae band Third World Spending our Waitangi Day and his 60th birthday with us here in Manukau  in 2008, he has left a lasting impression on all those that attended the free event held by the Maori Arts Trust, Toi O Manukau. Pictured here with a Nga Puhi tee and delighted fan backstage at the 2008 Manukau Waitangi Day Celebrations.Rugs is a must for any reggae music lover, Rugs brings soul, r'nb and pop together with an undeniable Jamaican flavour.

Co-founded by Jorge "Fabel" Pabon and Christie Z-Pabon, Tools of War was named with the idea that there are many "tools" one can use in competing or battling within Hip Hop culture: turntables, paint, microphones, one's body, and especially one's voice (and so on). Although the name may appear aggressive, the intent behind it's use is actually to inform and educate people regarding not only Hip Hop but many other social and political issues. As we grow, we are finding that it has also become a forum for voicing opinions and sharing ideas which might help in unifying and uplifting people all over the world. Please read our individual bios at myspace.com/Toolsofwar.

One never to follow, making up new unchartered styles way back in the 90's. and still leading the pack with dope flows in the present. About Us

Welcome to the Plantation Store! Situated on the boundaries of Mt Roskill, New Windsor and Blockhouse Bay (Central Auckland) we are a family owned business whose love for originality and creativity is paramount. Always believing in leading never following.

We started our business printing tee's and hoodies from our garage to sell at summer festivals that we would perform at. However, soon realised that we would have to take the 'business' a little more serious as we ended up giving away most of our merchandise! (that was just me mostly signed Mr Kapisi).

artWith a philosophy to make our merchandise clothing affordable for all people, even the most smallest (rare and popular) of our wares are reasonably priced.

booksWe sell all types of clothing from caps, jeans, shorts, womens jewellery, womens handbags, X-Rides motorised skate boards, adidas eyewear, books, music and artworks from local and international artists.  Keep coming back to check out the site, we will be updating on a regular basis, including an online purchase service.    Thanks for your time!
